URBAN TRANSPORT: ACCESSIBILITY
As regards disability-related issues, GTT staff provides assistance to passengers, paying particular attention to their safety. For instance:
- vehicles must stop with their front in line with the bus stop pole
- when vehicles move off, slow down or pull up, they must do it gradually, in order to ensure passenger' safety and comfort and to guarantee the best quality of the service
- vehicles must stop close to the bus stop kerb
- on vehicles equipped with a ramp, assistance must be provided to wheelchair users during the boarding and alighting phases

Passengers with motor disabilities
For information on wheelchair-accessible routes and stops in the urban and suburban area, please visit Linee e orari - Torino e cintura, use Telegram "gttorari" or Moovit app.
Most of our buses are equipped with a designated wheelchair space.
After boarding, position yourself in the dedicated wheelchair space and follow the instructions reported on the stickers displayed on board.
A wheelchair (whether manual or electric) is allowed on a public trasport if its weight is within the loading capacity limits of the access ramp of the vehicle. Furthermore, while on board, it is required to be safely positioned (rearward-facing and with the wheel brake applied) in the designated space.
The load capacity of the ramp is 300 kg
How to travel with pushchairs, and other information for all
- Pushchairs are allowed free of charge in the vehicles. Please place them in order to ensure the other passengers’ comfort
- Open pushchairs can be placed in the wheelchair zones with the brakes applied
- If a wheelchair user boards the same carriage, they have priority in using these designated spaces. In this case, you can remain on board but you have to fold your pushchair and hold your child in your arms. If needed, the driver will kindly ask other passengers to give up their seat.
- Brand- new buses are equipped with 4 yellow-painted seats (on other vehicles, they are blue-painted with yellow borders), which are accessible to people with motor disabilities: stop request buttons with Braille lettering are placed beside them.
Passengers with visual impairments
- Passengers with visual impairments should wait for the bus/tram near the bus pole
- Many trams and buses are equipped with a route indicator, an audiovisual system that, when approaching a bus stop, provides passengers with information on the position of the vehicle along the route, the service number and its direction
- On board, an audible information system announces the next stop.
- The first and the last carriages of the train have a designated priority seat, not exclusive, for persons with a visual impairment
- Metro stations are provided with tactile pathways, loges system and reserved passages.
