Tap & Go payment
It is possible to purchase tickets with contactless bank cards running on the Visa, Mastercard or American Express network (credit, prepaid and debit cards carrying the Mastercard/Maestro, Visa/V Pay or Amex logo). Contactless payment is available at dedicated turnstiles located in metro stations and, on board, on the new-generation buses.
At every gate of the metro stations, and in both direction, a turnstile is dedicated to contactless payments: it is fitted with a specific reader, easily identifiable by the payment-network logos, the signage on the floor and the decal on the glass barriers of the turnstiles. The card must be held against the validator until a beeping sound is emitted; the system recognizes the card as an ordinary ticket and opens the turnstile.
Actually, a ticket purchased with a payment card at metro stations and on board the vehicles fitted with the specific reader is equivalent to an ordinary “City 100” ticket: the fare is €1,70, it is valid for 100 minutes on the whole urban network and within the validity period passengers are allowed to board other services. The fare is directly charged to the account the payment card is linked to. At the moment, it is possible to purchase one ticket at a time. It is possible to check the details of the journey made on gtt.easyticketing.it/cards.
Ticket vending machines placed within metro stations
Within every metro station there are ticket vending machines at which you can pay cash or by credit/debit card on the Visa, Mastercard or American Express network. Tickets are available on chip-on-paper medium.
